Week 70

It was kind of a gloomy day, clouds filled the skies. It was one of those days where nothing seemed to be going right. Every appointment fell through and no one was accepting us. We started down a street and a group of men started yelling at us so we started down another when we passed by a kid standing outside his gate.

We started talking to him and he invited us in to share something with him and his mom. We soon found out his mom was an inactive member and invited them to church the next day, not thinking much of it. At 10:30 am the next morning, Francisco came to church by himself and stayed the whole time participating in all the classes. To make a long story short, Francisco ended up assisting all 4 conference sessions (including the Priesthood session) and asked when he could be baptized. Saturday Francisco was baptized a member of the church of Jesus Christ and it was beautiful. God is preparing His children daily and I feel so blessed to have gotten to know Francisco.

God is good.

He loves us.

He is shaping my life and helping me become the person I need to be by meeting so many of His wonderful children.

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31

love you all

Week 69

'Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.'

As missionaries we have been so blessed to teach about peace for Easter with the campaign #princeofpeace. I cannot explain the miracles we have had this past week testifying of Christ and the peace only He can bring. Especially Friday when we heard about what is happening at home with bombings and rumors of war.
The truth is, that the world is destroying itself. There are wars, families are falling apart, Satan´s army is getting bigger and bigger. I know now more than ever that the only true peace we will find in this life that lasts is in Christ. He loves us. He wants what's best for us. He will guide us safely to our heavenly home.
"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

I know we all pass through hard times and I invite you to confide in the Prince of Peace who is waiting for us with open arms.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." 2 Nephi 19:6

Week 68

Something I have stressed about sometimes on my mission is if I really was supposed to come on the mission or not, if it was really part of Gods plan for me. More and more every day I have been convinced that yes, I was supposed to come to Chile and serve for a reason. I can't even explain all that I have learned and how much I have changed in just 15 months.
I found a scripture the other day that helped me so so much.
"Even before they were born, they with many others received their first lessons in the world of spirits and were prepared to come forth in the due time of the Lord to labor in his vineyard for the salvation of the souls of men." Doctrine and Covenants 138:56
I know that I along with all the other missionaries have been prepared from the beginning of time to serve missions. I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity I have to serve my Father in Heaven and His children. I also couldn't be more grateful for conference this past weekend.
I loved that the same theme seemed to be repeated over and over again. Read, pray, go to church, go to the temple, and serve. I have a testimony that if we do the small things, God will make us into something great.
My favorite line from conference was, "We come to know Him best by working with Him"
I have truly gotten to know my Savior by working side by side with Him teaching the beautiful people of Chile. I love my Savior. I love you guys too!
Have a good week and keep moving forward.

Week 67

I just finished up my first week in Llo Lleo and I am so incredibly happy. I have joked with Hermana Gonsalves my whole mission that we would finish our missions together on the beach and here we are. Our sector is huge and filled with steep hills so we come home every day exhausted but soo happy.
I think out of all my sectors, this is my most humble sector and it has really taken me back to think about how blessed I am. The people here are so receptive and kind here. We have had people come up to us and ask about the church which never happens in the mission.. ha
I am learning more and more everyday here in Chile that God is aware of us and has a plan for each of us. I know He sent me here to Llo Lleo at this time for a reason and I know Hna Gonsalves is my companion for a reason. I know that life isn't easy at times and we may feel completely alone but I know we have a Savior who never ever leaves us alone. That is probably the biggest thing I have learned in my mission is that trials are part of this life. God isn't going to take the trials away from us but He will never leave us alone to face them.
I love you all so much and I am so grateful for your support. Keep your heads up and keep going.
