Week 15

This week has been amazing! I have come to know my Savior so much this week as me and my companion have been able to serve His children. Last week I was kind of feeling sorry for myself that we weren’t having success and also because I was sick and I was kind of annoying myself. haha So I decided to start a journal that I carry with me all day and I write down little miracles I have throughout the day (Mi Libro de Milagros) The more I do this the more I realize how truly blessed I am. I want to share with you some of them.

1. Razmie Cofrie. She is an investigator who has finished the Book of Mormon TWICE but she doesn’t want to be baptized because she loves smoking. I have been praying my heart out for a miracle with her and it turns out this week her doctor told her if she doesn’t stop smoking she is going to die. She is now on a super strict diet that even excludes coffee as well. She is now determined to stop and wants to be baptized.

2. Six investigators attended church this Sunday. Such a miracle! I am so grateful for every single one of them.

3. Perros. On Saturday, Chile and Argentina had a soccer game and the streets were extremely dangerous with men screaming and rioting. It was almost 9 o clock and my companion and I were terrified. We said a prayer and out of the blue two huge dogs came and walked with us all the way home!! I have no doubt they were angels.

4. Melipilla. I got to go on divisions this week and got to go to el campo with Hermana McNevin de Colorado. It was so much fun and we experienced so many miracles together. The campo is so beautiful...

5. ‘Steal My Girl.’ On Saturday I was sad because I knew it was the Women’s broadcast and I wasn’t with my mom and the next day was Easter and I missed my family so much. But then ‘Steal My Girl’ came on and that is our families’ song. I know I am a missionary and we aren’t supposed to listen to music but I kind of feel like that was a blessing that reminded me of my family.

Long story short, I am so blessed! I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the things I have and for the opportunity to be a missionary. I love my Savior and I know He lives. I hope we can all prepare for conference this week and become more like Christ. Have an amazing week people.

Week 14

This week was one for the books.. Tuesday we had a reunion con all of the mission and it was amazing. I felt the Spirit so strongly as we sang Called To Serve and our mission song Santiago Oeste together. I was filled with the knowledge that I am where I am supposed to be right now. After the meeting when all of us missionaries were talking, I started to feel super sick and went and asked the nurse for some medicine. She started freaking out because I was breaking out in red spots. Long story short I have chicken pox and it has been a rough week. I have been banished to my house until it all goes away and let me tell you..... You can only read the scriptures for so long. haha Really though, I love The Book of Mormon. I have questioned many times this week why this happened when I have been trying so hard to be obedient and work hard. The only answer I have for all of you is God knows what He is doing. I have had to trust in Him and His timing so much this week. I have come away from this experience with an understanding that sometimes we are doing all we can to do that is right but that doesn't keep us from having trials. My mission president came and gave me a blessing this week and told me maybe I just needed an extra polishing for the next week. haha But really I have such a strong testimony of the priesthood as well. I received 3 different blessings this week from Elders, the bishop, and my mission president. 3 different men but all of my blessings were the same. They blessed me with health obviously but with things I have been praying for as well. My Spanish and no more homesickness. This shows me that every blessing really is from God himself. I love this gospel, I love the priesthood, and I love you all. Have an amazing week and remember. You can do ALL things through Christ.
Stay classy Santiago.

Week 13

Another week has come and gone. The mission is crazy honestly. I have never been so happy, so frustrated, & so tired, all at the same time. We have so many investigators who are so close to baptism but little things are keeping them from it. I have prayed my heart out this week and ask you all to pray for our success and other missionaries’ success as well. My companion and I have realized the key to success is service. When we serve others we naturally begin to love them. When we love them we want them to be happy. And nothing brings more happiness than this gospel, am I right?? I love this gospel! This week as we were walking around in the heat and people were rejecting us left and right, my companion started to sing primary songs to cheer us up. Super nerdy I know. haha But I have found so much comfort in these words. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me. Heavenly Father are you really there? And do you hear and answer every child’s prayer?

This week a man in the ward asked me how I was doing with learning Castellano and I told him I only knew Spanish and English. He started dying laughing and said Spanish is for people in Spain. In South America, its Castellano. The whole ward teases me about it now. haha Yesterday we had a conference live from Salt Lake City with all of Chile. Russell. M. Nelson gave a 20 minute talk IN SPANISH. I cried the whole time because his Spanish wasn’t all that great. He sounded super gringo, he messed up a lot, and you couldn’t understand him sometimes. But I know every person that watched this conference felt the spirit. This gave me comfort that yeah I sound super gringa when I speak. I use the wrong words at times. And people may not always understand me. But I hope they feel the Spirit as I simply testify of Christ. I hope you all know you are loved and I hope you have an amazing week.

Week 12

3 months in the field!! In many ways it has flown by, in others not so much. March is kind of a special month for me because last March is when I decided to serve a mission, a choice I know is going to bless me for the eternities. At times the only thing that gets me through the day is remembering the spiritual prompting I had to serve and understanding I am where I am supposed to be right now. I am grateful for a Father in Heaven who knows each of us personally and has a plan for each of us. This week was a hard one. Not because of personal trials but because I realized how many of my investigators are hurting. So many of my investigators have money problems, family issues, etc. I was telling my companion I wish I could help them buy glasses for their kids and fix their marriage issues and she told me the best way to help them is to teach them of Christ and bring them unto Him. I know this is true. I really cannot describe my love for the people here in Santiago Chile. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be here and serve them with all that I have. I love this gospel and I love my Father in Heaven. I love you all so much, have a great week and read your scriptures!!

PS. If any of you are ever bored, feel free to send me a letter. I wouldn't mind.

Week 11

This week was nuts. First off, I got to go to the temple with Juan and Edwin to do baptisms for the dead and it was so amazing. I didn’t know it was possible to be so happy! And afterwards when we were taking pictures I got to see Hermana Lively!! I said a little prayer I would get to see her but I knew the chances were so small. Well I have a testimony that God really does care about the smallest mundane things in our lives because I got to see her. We both cried, a lot. haha I love her and know she will be an amazing missionary!! This week a lot happened but the funniest was lunch with Hermana Rivera. For those who may have noticed I am a little rounder around the edges, yes I have gained a few pounds. It is all due to the cute women in this ward who feed us so much food.. Hermana Rivera is in her 60’s and feels that because we walk all day we need enough food to last all day. You would not believe how much food she fed us and if we didn’t finish it, she would be so upset. So my companion and I came up with a strategy. My companion would point to a picture on the wall and ask about it while I rapped some food up in a napkin and threw it in my backpack. We did this the whole meal. Pictures for evidence. Good times I tell you. haha this week flew by with a whole lot of ups and downs but overall I am just so grateful. We had a conference this week with Elder Bednar and his wife and she said, "Be the kind of missionary your mother thinks you are." I have a lot of work to do! I know this church is true with all my heart. Elder Bednar said. "No human being could create this gospel. It is not possible for a human mind to create something that could bring happiness to people in Chile and Mongolia. China and the United States." I know this is true! I would just like to close with words of wisdom from my brother Preston. Short people got all the reason to preach. Truer words have never been spoken! Til next week. Love you all.

Week 10

This week was difficult for my companion and I. The last few weeks we have had so many people to teach and investigators with baptismal dates and overall a lot of success. And one by one they have told us to stop coming. So this week we did a lot of contacting to find others to teach. I took a tally to see how many doors we knocked on and how many people actually let us teach them. We knocked on 127 doors and 4 let us teach them. But this experience has made me appreciate the 4 so much more! I am grateful for trials and what I am able to learn from them. This week I am especially grateful for The Book of Mormon. I thought I had a testimony of it before I left, which I did. But it was small. Something changes when you have to carry a Book of Mormon with you at all times and tell people all day long you know it is true. It is impossible to testify of something without having a burning testimony of it. So I have prayed more than I ever have before to know for myself and I testify that is it true. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and I love it more than I can say. I challenge you all to read it and find out for yourselves! The primary purpose of the BOM is to convince everyone that Jesus is the Christ. Some of my favorite scriptures are Helaman 5:12, 2 Nephi 27:23, Mosiah 24:14, Ether 12:6, and Alma 36:3. I share these with people every day all day.

I love you all and pray for you guys so much. Have an amazing week, say your prayers, and remember God loves you.
Con amor,
Hermana Beardall
PS/ This week at a family’s home I prayed "por favor bendice las comida con seguridad" which means with safety.. And that is not okay to say here. Luckily everyone just died laughing.
